Transportation to Hoboken?
I will be landing in JFK this morning and have not figured out how my family and I will go to our hotel in Hoboken. The taxi is no doubt more convinient so that´s why I think I will choose this way to go… But i have a question..
at the airport, can I ask the driver or someone responsible for it how much will my ride cost with all tools included or do I have to go and just at the end of the trip see the price ?
Do you know how much will it probably cost ?
and the last question; If we dicide to take public transportation, is it safe to ride until hoboken at 04:00PM ?!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !
I will actually land on monday morning !

The cab may cost you $75 or more.
There is a bus from JFK to the Port Authroity BUs TErminal. Direct service.
And from the Port Authority you can get a bus to Hoboken. Get your tickets before you board the bus.
njtransit.com is the web site for some help.
4 p.m in hoboken is very safe.

I usually will arrange for a car to pick me up from the airport. I usually use A1 from Ft Lee
here is a l ink to their website http://www.a-1carserv.com/services/. Last time I used them the price was $85 plus tolls tolls cost $18 If you have a lot of luggage the price is worth it.
Public transportation is safe but you will have to change trains a few times. If you use the PATH make sure you get on the one to Hoboken or you might wind up in Jersey City.
Good Luck

A taxi from JFK to anywhere in midtown is $45 flat fare – take the Queensboro, Brooklyn, Williamsburg or Manhattan Bridge and there aren’t any tolls. Avoid the tunnels. They’re a little faster, but you will pay a high toll in addition to the fare. Take a cab to 33rd St and 6th AV. direct him to the PATH Train entrance on 6th AV. Take the Path Train to Hoboken for about $2. Usually there are no problems taking public transportation at 4PM.
Good luck.
In regards to taxis. You can negotiate your price. The reason I say this, is because once a NYC taxi crosses the state line into New Jersey the meter fare is not applied. So its best to negotiate before putting the suitcase in the cab’s trunk.
In regards to public transit. Public transit in NYC is very safe and cost effective. You can take the JFK Airtrain, which is small automated train from JFK to Jamaica Station, where a transfer can by made to either the subway or the Long Island Railroad. Once in Manhattan, you can take NJ Transit to Hoboken via Secaucus Junction, or the PATH train directly to Hoboken.
If you’re going to Hoboken by public transit, I can provide you with travel directions from JFK to Hoboken. Just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in my profile.
Another option to get from JFK to Hoboken, will be by take the New York Airport Service express bus from the airport to Penn Station and then take NJ Transit to Hoboken via Secaucus Junction, or the PATH train directly to Hoboken. The fare on the bus is $15 one way, per person.
I hope this infomration is very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I’ll be glad to help.
Good luck and Happy New Year
