Going trough NYC to get to honeymoon cruise.?

My fiancée and I are getting married August 21, 2010. We want to go on a Carnival Cruise for our honeymoon which leaves from New York City August 23, 2010. We’re both from Massachusetts and have never been to NYC. While we both agree it would be nice to spend the night extra night in the city we are unsure if we should just drive into the city, or fly from Albany Int Airport to JFK/Newark/LaGuardia and then take a taxi, or take the train, or rent a limo? Driving would be the least expensive but like I said we have never drove in NYC. My fiancée has never driven in any big city, and I have driven in Toronto, Chicago, and Boston.

Any suggestions??

Transportation to Hoboken?

I will be landing in JFK this morning and have not figured out how my family and I will go to our hotel in Hoboken. The taxi is no doubt more convinient so that´s why I think I will choose this way to go… But i have a question..

at the airport, can I ask the driver or someone responsible for it how much will my ride cost with all tools included or do I have to go and just at the end of the trip see the price ?
Do you know how much will it probably cost ?

and the last question; If we dicide to take public transportation, is it safe to ride until hoboken at 04:00PM ?!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND HAPPY NEW YEAR !
I will actually land on monday morning !

Avid public transportation users in new york, need assistance..?

hello!

I will be flying to New York in 2 weeks and here is my schedule:

Leave San Diego at 10:30, Arrive in New York JFK AIRPORT about 6:45 am.
I do NOT want to pay for a taxi (the hotel is already killing me! lol) And I hear that it is easy to use the public transportation out there.

Can you tell me what subway trains, airtrains, or busses I need to take in order to get to LONG ISLAND CITY from JFK? (Holiday Inn Long Island City Manhattan View to be exact) I can take a taxi from the last bus/subway drop off, I just need to get as close as possible.

Thanks a million!

JFK Airport Limo service?

The first time I arrived in New York it was to JFK and a gentleman approached us and offered us a limo service into Manhattan. It seemed a litte weird and we didnt want to be the last people left in the limo so we went for a taxi instead. Other people went ahead with it though. Does anyone know if this service is legit as we are going back in September. Thanks

I am flying into Islip Macarthur Long Island Airport. What taxi is the best to use to get to NYC late at night

I’m hesitant on using the trains/subway at 1-2 am. I land in Long Island at 11 pm. Can you please recommend a taxi/limo service for just myself.

i’m planning to spend a week in new york in the beginning of september… i’ll probably be flying into the jfk airport… my question is, once i’m there, how should i plan to get around for the week? i want to see all the sites. should i rent a car? travel by bus? taxi? how much should i expect to have to pay for transportation for the whole week?

What is the easiest/cheapest way to get from JFK airport to North Bergen, NJ?

My husband & I will be arriving at JFK Airport at 6 pm, and we are trying to find the BEST way to get from JFK to our hotel in North Bergen, NJ.

We have been advised to get from JFK to Penn Station in Manhattan(?) and then take a taxi from Penn Station to North Bergen.

What is the best way to get from JFK to Penn Station?

from JFK to La Guardia Airport?

how can I get from JKF to La Guardia? I mean public transportation. i think taxi would be too expensive…
so is there a subway or bus I can take? and how long would I take?

New York City Taxi Surcharge?

Almost a year ago after hurricane Katrina sent the gas prices soaring, the Taxi Limo Comm wanted to impose a surcharge for fuel, which they promised to revoke it back as soon as the prices go down. It was promised that the surcharge isn’t going to be permanent. Did they impose it and if so, did they revoke it back eventually? Was the promise kept?

Question No 2. There’s another surcharge being imposed now for slow and stopped traffic. Is this justified?

Thanks to all who answer.

Who's responsible for wedding party transportation to/from airport?

A friend in New England is getting married in a few months, and most, if not all, of the bridal party is flying in from out of town. I’m a bridesmaid. The closest airports are in New York. I’m happy to pay for my airfare and hotel even though I don’t make much money, but I have anxiety issues when it comes to driving, and at this point I’ll be damned if I’m going to rent a car and panic my way from Laguardia or JFK to the hotel, more than an hour away. A taxi or limo would run close to 0, which is out of the question after I’ve already paid for the flight, hotel, dress, and who knows what else. I was under the impression that it’s proper etiquette to provide some sort of airport-to-hotel transportation for the bridal party, and the bride has family members who could probably make a trip or two to pick up guests, but she hasn’t mentioned the possibility and I’d feel like a beastly bridesmaid if I asked. Am I responsible for getting to the hotel myself?
Another 0 for a limo when you make the equivalent of minimum wage isn’t exactly "nickels." ;)
I’d rather not give out the exact location; I’m paranoid the bride will find this, recognize me and throw a fit. But I’ve checked, and the nearest airports are in NY (I have family that used to live in NY, and they confirmed this for me).
Thanks for the suggestions about asking what the other bridal party members are planning and possibly "carpooling" with some of them. I’m willing to pay my share for a rental car as long as I don’t have to drive. If I drive I won’t get past the parking lot. ;) Also, I’m traveling in from across the country and don’t have days to spend traveling, so I do need to fly in.
