I’ll be in NY for a week, I’ll land in JFK airport and my hotel in in lower east side. I would like to use mainly the subway.
I know about bus service, but I would prefer enter NYC from the undreground (subway) or by train.

I am traveling to New York City in the beginning of October – I have never been before so I’d like some tips or suggestions.. I have no idea what to expect or even where to stay. I will be flying into JFK airport and am still looking for a hotel.. I will most likely be staying in marriott hotel so if u know of a great area to stay with a marriott location that would be most helpful. Also, I am interested in maybe seeing a show – any suggestions of where and what the cost may be? I am only planning on being in new york for 3 days so yes, a very short trip..

also, how does transportation work? I’ve heard it is not wise to rent a car so ill probably be taking public transportation or walking… any advice on this would also be appreciated… I am on a budget so any affordable/cheap activities etc is great!

My fiancée and I are getting married August 21, 2010. We want to go on a Carnival Cruise for our honeymoon which leaves from New York City August 23, 2010. We’re both from Massachusetts and have never been to NYC. While we both agree it would be nice to spend the night extra night in the city we are unsure if we should just drive into the city, or fly from Albany Int Airport to JFK/Newark/LaGuardia and then take a taxi, or take the train, or rent a limo? Driving would be the least expensive but like I said we have never drove in NYC. My fiancée has never driven in any big city, and I have driven in Toronto, Chicago, and Boston.

Any suggestions??

I was looking on the airports’ websites to figure out how to go. My husband and I will have a LOT of luggage, so we don’t want to transfer all over the place, we just want a straight shot. I found something about a bus that goes directly to JFK, but it doesn’t give much info about it. Where does it pick you up/drop off? How long will it take? There is no website directly for this supposed bus. Has anyone ever taken it?

So my fiancee and I are going to Greece for our honeymoon. We leave JFK airport on Tuesday, May 26 @ 4:00 pm and land in Athens on Wednesday, May 27 @ 9:00 am. We will be spending 2 nights in Athens at the Stanley hotel. We will then travel by ferry to the K Hotel in Mykonos where we will spend 3 nights. We will then travel by ferry to the El Greco Hotel in Santorini for 3 nights. After that we will fly back to Athens then back to JFK.

Our package includes the flight, hotel, breakfast at hotels, 1 dinner, all transfers and transportation to and from the hotels. We are also taking a tour of Athens, Santorini & Mykonos. Basically all we will really be paying for is lunch, dinner, any other incidental transportation needs, any extra services (like spas) and souvenirs

I am trying to figure out how much money (in Euros) I should have with us. Should it be in cash or travelers checks or some of each? I will have a credit card on me for emergencies, but I would prefer not to use it.

I will be travelling to New York next month from Saudi Arabia but my final destination is San Francisco, you might wonder why its very far. The reason is that my current employer which is an airline company has only two sectors in North America and that is New York(JFK) and Washington (IAD).
I just need to buy another ticket from JFK to SFO once I get to New York but I am thinking of seeing downtown Manhattan and most especially,the famous park in the city, places where I used to see only in Hollywood movies
That is why I am planning to stay for one day and fly to SFO the following day, I found this hostel already which is really affordable but I am wondering about the cost of transportation from and to the JFK International Airport.
Can someone please give me an idea how much would it cost for one day in Manhattan?
The only reasons I want to do there is to see the place and take some pictures before I fly to SFO.

By the way this will be my first time in the States, I will be immigrating to California.
