Getting to JFK Airport or LaGuardia Airport
Here are your options:
* To JFK Airport or Laguardia Airport by taxi and limo service.:
For door to door service this is undoubtably the way to go. The listed companies have been servicing the airport and the New York area for years. For approximately $75.00 + gratuity they will drive up to 4 people in a Town Car or similar vehicle right to your JFK terminal destination.
* To JFK or LaGuardia by Train:
There is shuttle service from MacArthur Airport to the nearby Ronkonkoma train station:
Taxis provide shuttle service between MacArthur Airport and the Ronkonkoma train station (LIRR). The shuttle van departs the train station daily at 5:30am, then departs the airport on the hour and half-hour from 6:00am until 10:30pm. Curbside pick up at the airport is directly in front of baggage claim. The shuttle will pick up and drop off at the North Platform of the Ronkonkoma train station. The one-way fare is $5.00 per person. Cash and credit cards are accepted. All rates are subject to change without notice. The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) offers frequent service to Jamaica station (the station you get off at to go to JFK or LaGuardia) Ronkonkoma train station The train ride is approximately one hour 10min. The train fare currently $7.25 (non-rush hour times).
Note: New AirTrain service to JFK from Jamaica. The New Airtrain will take you to JFK and make stops at the terminals. For infomation on the AirTrain visit http://www.airtrainjfk.com . If you are going to LaGuardia you will then need to take a taxi to take you the rest of the way to the airport.
Note: If you are on a budget AND have plenty of time this may be a legitimate way to travel to JFK. However please keep in mind JFK is a very big airport with several terminals and you need to know where you are going in time if you are catching a connecting flight. So give yourself plenty of extra time. The rail road -Airtrain transportation option may not be the way to go if you are on a time constraint.
From Mac Arthur Airport (aka Islip Airport), take the airport shuttle or Suffolk Transit’s bus route S51 to the Ronkonkoma LIRR station.
Once at the Ronkonkoma train station, take the Long Island Railroad westbound from Ronkonkoma to Jamaica Station. The one way off peak fare from Ronkonkoma to Jamaica will cost you $8.25.
Once at Jamiaca, transfer to the JFK Airtrain, which will take from train station to all the terminals. The one way fare is $5 and trip take about 10 minutes.
I hope this infomration is very helpful.
Good luck
