Going trough NYC to get to honeymoon cruise.?
My fiancée and I are getting married August 21, 2010. We want to go on a Carnival Cruise for our honeymoon which leaves from New York City August 23, 2010. We’re both from Massachusetts and have never been to NYC. While we both agree it would be nice to spend the night extra night in the city we are unsure if we should just drive into the city, or fly from Albany Int Airport to JFK/Newark/LaGuardia and then take a taxi, or take the train, or rent a limo? Driving would be the least expensive but like I said we have never drove in NYC. My fiancée has never driven in any big city, and I have driven in Toronto, Chicago, and Boston.
Any suggestions??

Partly that will depend on which port your cruise leaves from. Is it the port on the West Side or the one in Redhook?
It probably would not be cheapest to drive. It’s going to cost a LOT to park for the week you’ll be cruising, not to mention the hassle of driving in NYC.
Best bet would probably be to see whether Carnival has a bus from the Albany area to the port and back. Check their website or ask your travel agent. From Albany, you might also use Amtrak, if your port is the one in Manhattan, then just take a cab from the train station to the dock. The advantage of using the cruise line transfer would be that you wouldn’t have to worry about being late – the ship would wait for you. If you try to do this on your own, you definitely want to consider coming into NYC the night before, depending on the time constraints.
